Imran Yousuf Dar, also known as Imran Kashmiri, is a talented writer and author hailing from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Imran has made significant contributions to the literary world. With a portfolio of 16 books, including "Martyr Qassim Soleimani," "Third Sunday of June," "My Genius Father," "Partition of Kashmir," "Story of a Dancer," "First Female Football Coach of Jammu and Kashmir," "Martyr Hamid Rahmanian," "Story Behind the Last Seen," "Tricky Shot Guy of Kashmir," "The Girl with Dreams," and "Aching Hearts Healing Souls," Imran has showcased his versatility by writing biographies, love stories, Islamic stories, and historical narratives.
Imran's journey as a writer has been shaped by his early aversion to reading. However, in his teenage years, he discovered a passion for reading and writing, thanks to the encouragement and guidance of his high school English and Physics teachers. Imran's love for literature grew as he began selecting books of personal interest, rather than being assigned mandatory readings. This freedom allowed him to fully engage with the content and sparked vibrant discussions with others.
Writing has become a form of self-expression and liberation for Imran. It provides him with a safe space to articulate his thoughts and emotions. However, writing is not without its challenges. Imran invests significant time and effort into maintaining focus, and when faced with writer's block or external disturbances, he can become anxious and stressed. Nevertheless, Imran recognizes the crucial connection between reading and writing, as reading exposes him to different writing styles and enhances his own craft.
Imran thrives on writing in various contexts, which constantly challenges him to become a better writer. Even in casual text conversations, he prefers composing complete sentences. Imran believes that his extensive writing practice will prepare him for his future endeavors as a Psychology major, acknowledging that writing will play a fundamental role in his chosen field. He finds a deep connection between his brain and thought process when writing with a pencil on paper, often preferring this tactile approach over typing on a computer. Imran's commitment to nurturing his writing practice stems from the belief that it allows him to express himself and build confidence in his ability to produce quality work.
Writing serves as a form of communication for Imran, and he recognizes its complexity. He acknowledges that writing is a skill that can be learned and improved upon, and he remains dedicated to his ongoing journey of discovery, reflection, and growth through writing.
Outside of his writing pursuits, Imran leads a rich personal life. He is a proud Indian citizen and practices the Islamic faith. Standing tall at 186 cm with black hair and black eyes, Imran is the son of Tasleema Akther and Mohammad Yousuf Dar. He has two siblings, Ehsan Ali Dar and Aayat Zehra. Imran is an undergraduate student, having completed his schooling at Army Goodwill Public School in Pahalgam Lidrue. He is currently pursuing his higher education at Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi.
Imran has diverse interests beyond writing. He admires actors like Shailesh Lodha (Taarak Mehta) and Neha Mehta (Anjali Taarak Mehta), and enjoys the music of Kaifi Khalil and Rj Umer Nasir. Imran's favorite songs include "Khani Suno," "Coke Studio Bharat - Kay Karie Korimol," "Jaane Janaan," "Bhoomi 2022," "Nigaroo," and "BeDard Dadi Chane." He has a penchant for black, green, and red colors and follows sports personality Nadiya Nighat. Imran also finds inspiration from YouTuber Sandeep Maheshwari.
When it comes to food and beverages, Imran enjoys traditional Kashmiri dishes such as Rogan Josh, Goshtaba, Dum Aloo, Kashmiri Rajma, Naat Yakhni, Aab Gosht, Tabak Maaz, and Nadir Monji. His preferred drinks include Masala Chai, Filter Coffee (Kaapi), Lassi, Masala Chaas, Paneer Soda, Toddy, Aam Panna, and Nimbu Pani.
For desserts, Imran indulges in biscuits, cakes, cookies, custards, gelatins, ice creams, pastries, pies, puddings, macaroons, sweet soups, tarts, and fruit salad.
Imran's interests extend to the world of films and TV shows. Imran has also been honored with the U-Report India Award 2023 by UNICEF India. His accomplishments include the Best Student Excellence Award 2022, District-level e-Quiz Award 2021, State-level e-Quiz Award 2021, National-level e-Quiz Award 2022, and an International-level e-Quiz Silver Award in 2022. Imran has also been recognized with the Fit India Freedom Run Award by the Government of India. His writing skills have earned him the Short Story Writer Award in 2023 from the Chief of the Army Staff, as well as the National-level Poem Award in 2022 from the Lieutenant Governor. Imran's contributions to the field of nutrition led to a National Award in Two Days Food Nutrition in 2021. Additionally, he has received the Teachers Tribute Committee Award in 2022, the National Biographiest Award in 2022 from Shailesh Lodha in Lucknow, and the Writer of the Year Award in 2022.
Imran's past experiences include involvement with the Entrepreneurship Cell at IIT Bombay, Content Creation Pvt Ltd, Younity Scales Executive, Internshala Trainings, Content Writer Course Khoj, Media Journalism, and YouTube script writing for Maher Zain.
